Remember the Time
“I wish I had interviewed my mom before she passed.”
“My dad has told that story a hundred times—but now we finally have it recorded, exactly how he tells it.”
Everyone has a story. But not everyone gets the chance to tell it—at least not in a way that lasts. At Remember the Time, we help families capture the life stories of the people they love most. Through thoughtful, in-person interviews, we preserve your parent’s or grandparent’s voice, memories, and wisdom—so future generations can hear their story in their own words.
We offer several storytelling packages that include:
Audio or video recordings
Transcripts and storybooks
Optional highlight films and digital archives
This isn’t just about memory. It’s about meaning. It’s about giving your family something they’ll return to again and again—and passing down a legacy that lives far beyond one lifetime.

How it works
Start with a discovery call
This isn’t a template. It’s a tailored experience, built around your loved one’s story.
We begin with a 15-minute call—just a conversation. You share your goals, questions, or concerns, and we’ll walk you through what’s possible. There’s no script, no pressure—just space to explore if this feels right for you.
Once you decide to move forward, we’ll co-create a custom interview plan. This includes gathering input from family members, identifying key life themes, and shaping questions that reflect your loved one’s personality, values, and voice. No two interviews are the same—because no two lives are.
Your loved one is interviewed in person
Every step is intentional, compassionate, and designed to honor your family’s legacy.Your loved one is interviewed in person.
A professionally-trained researcher conducts the interview gently and skillfully—often over the course of a day or two. The experience is conversational, respectful, comforting, and often deeply meaningful for the person being interviewed.
You receive a legacy to hold onto forever.
After the interview, we carefully edit and refine the audio or video, transcribe the conversation, and begin shaping your selected deliverables. Whether it’s a highlight film, a printed storybook, or a full digital archive, every element is crafted with the utmost respect and care.
Your final package is delivered as a private, bespoke collection—with keepsake options selected by you, according to what fits your family the best. This isn’t just a recording—it’s your family’s history, preserved with depth and dignity.
What to expect
A relaxed, respectful experience—from our first call to your finished keepsake.
Every story is different. That’s why we approach each interview with flexibility, care, and professionalism. Here’s what the journey typically looks like:
-
A relaxed, complementary discovery call to learn more about your family, your goals, and what kind of story you’d like to preserve and your timeline.
When you decide to move forward, the first step is to co-create a personalized conversation guide together with the family and with the interviewee(s). You can share life chapters you want covered, themes you'd love to explore (like early childhood, parenting, immigration, or faith), and any topics that deserve special care—or should be skipped altogether.
This step ensures the conversation feels meaningful, not stiff—and that your loved one feels safe and supported.
-
An in-person interview in the comfort of home. Nothing scripted—just thoughtful, guided storytelling with space to reflect and share.
On interview day, we come to your loved one’s home (or agreed-upon location). Our setup is intentionally simple and unobtrusive:
A small camera on a tripod
A clip-on microphone for great sound
Natural light whenever possible
A calm, friendly presence—you won’t feel like you're on stage
We'll sit together for about 1.5–3 hours, with breaks as needed. The tone is warm, not formal. Think conversation over coffee, not interview under a spotlight.
Most people forget the camera is even there. We guide gently, listen deeply, and follow the storyteller’s lead.
-
After the session, we carefully edit the video and audio, clean up transcripts, and begin crafting your chosen keepsake—whether that’s a short highlight film, a printed storybook, or a full digital archive.
You’ll have a chance to review materials and make light edits if desired. Our timeline is typically 4–6 weeks from filming to final delivery.
Every detail is tailored to your family’s needs—because no two legacies are alike. If you have questions or special requests, we’re happy to talk through them.
-
You receive your finished keepsake, ready to revisit, pass down, or gift to the people who matter most. Depending on your package, keepsakes may include:
High-quality video or audio file
Transcript or lightly edited narrative
Printed storybook or USB keepsake (depending on your package)
Everything is private and securely stored. If you choose to share your story more widely, we’ll help you do that too—with respect and care.
Most people wish they had asked more before it was too late.
Regret is common—but avoidable.
Legacy storytelling has proven emotional and cognitive benefits. Discover the science behind why capturing stories matters so deeply.
“The opportunity to tell one’s story affirms identity, preserves dignity, and creates a sense of meaning at the end of life.”
Testimonials
About me
Hi, I’m Dr. Savannah Young. I’m a researcher by training, a storyteller by heart, and I am someone who believes deeply in the power of listening. I have a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Georgia, and I’ve worked in consulting and professional, corporate and academic research for over 10 years. Over the years, I’ve sat with people from all walks of life, asking questions that invite reflection, laughter, and sometimes tears. It’s in these moments that stories unfold—stories that deserve to be remembered.
I started Remember the Time because I know the ache of wishing I had asked more questions, recorded more memories, held onto more voices. This work is my way of helping others capture the essence of their loved ones—their wisdom, their quirks, their journeys.
When I’m not conducting interviews, you will find me with my young kids, attending a yoga class, or writing reflections on life’s complexities. I bring that same presence and curiosity to every interview, creating a space where stories can be shared with honesty and grace.
If you’re ready to preserve the stories that matter most, I’m here to help.
